Работа над английскими штампами в привязке к разным эмоциям и ситуациям естественным образом навела меня на мысль о штампах диалектных. Это тема не настолько актуальна, как первая, однако она сегодня весьма полезна при просмотре тех же сериалов, снятых в разных англоязычных странах, а кроме того, любопытна и забавна сама по себе.
Я представил себе, как один и тот же типичный диалог может прозвучать в устах средних американцев, лондонцев, шотландцев, негритосов, ирландцев, жителей Нью-Йорка, калифорнийцев, техасцев, австралийцев и валлийцев.
Представим себе, как двое друзей, Элис и Бен, встречаются в кофейне и обсуждают предстоящий день. Понятный нам диалог на нейтральном английском звучит так:
Alice: Hi, Ben! How’s your day going so
far?
Ben: Pretty good, thanks! I’ve just finished a project at work, so I’m feeling accomplished. How about you?
Alice: Not bad. I’ve been running errands all morning, but now I can finally relax. Have you had lunch yet?
Ben: Not yet. I was thinking of grabbing something quick. Any recommendations?
Alice: There’s a
new Italian place down the street. It’s supposed to be amazing.
Ben: Sounds perfect. Let’s check it out together!

Alice: Hey, Ben! How’s it goin’?
Ben: Not bad, thanks! Just wrapped up a project at work, so I’m feelin’ pretty good. What about you?

Alice: Yeah, there’s this

Ben: Sweet! Let’s hit it up.
Alice: Alright, Ben! How’s your day been?
Ben: Not too shabby, cheers. Just finished up a bit of graft at work, so feelin’ chuffed. You?
Alice: Been runnin’ errands all mornin’, but I’m knackered now. You grabbed a bite yet?
Ben: Nah, not yet. Might nip out for somethin’ quick. Any ideas?
Alice: There’s this Italian
gaff down the road. Meant to be proper good.
Ben: Brilliant. Let’s give it a go!
Alice: Awrite, Ben! Hoo’s yer day been?
Ben: Nay bad, cheers. Ah’ve just finished a project at work, so feelin’ dead pleased wi’ masel’. Whit aboot you?
Alice: Been oot n’ aboot aw mornin’, but ah’m fair shattered noo. Hud yer lunch yet?
Ben: Nah, no yet. Thinkin’ aboot grabbin’ somethin’. Ony ideas?
Alice: There’s a new Italian
doon the road. Folk say it’s braw.
Ben: Grand! Let’s gie it a bash.
Alice: Yo, Ben! Whassup? How you been?
Ben: I’m good, real good. Just got that work project done, so I’m feelin’ myself. You?
Alice: Girl, I been runnin’ round all mornin’, but I’m finna chill now. You eat yet?
Ben: Nah, not yet. Might cop somethin’. Any spots you know?
Alice: Yeah, there’s this new
Italian joint down the block. Heard it’s fire.
Ben: Bet! Let’s roll.
Alice: How’s it goin’, Ben? Grand day, isn’t it?
Ben: Ah, it’s not bad at all. Just wrapped up somethin’ at work, so I am. How’re you?
Alice: Flat out all mornin’, but I’m takin’ it handy now. Have ye eaten yet?
Ben: Not a bite. Was thinkin’ of grabbin’ somethin’. Any good spots?
Alice: Sure, there’s a new
Italian just down the way. Heard it’s savage.
Ben: Deadly! Let’s pop over.
Alice: Yo, Ben! How ya doin’?
Ben: I’m good, I’m good. Just knocked out this project at work. Feelin’ alright. You?
Alice: Been runnin’ errands all mornin’, but I’m finally takin’ a breather. You grabbed lunch yet?
Ben: Nah. Thinkin’ I’ll grab a slice or somethin’. You know any good spots?
Alice: Yeah,
there’s this Italian spot right down the block. Heard it’s legit.
Ben: Aight, let’s hit it up.
Alice: Hey, Ben! What’s up?
Ben: Not much, just crushed a project at work. Feelin’ stoked. How’s it goin’ with you?
Alice: Been runnin’ around all mornin’, but now I’m finally chillin’. You had lunch?
Ben: Nah, not yet. Thinkin’ of grabbin’ somethin’. Any recs?
Alice: For sure, there’s a new
Italian place down the street. Supposed to be super legit.
Ben: Rad! Let’s cruise over.
Alice: Howdy, Ben! How’s your day shakin’ out?
Ben: Pretty good, thanks. Just finished a big ol’ project at work. Feelin’ mighty proud. You?
Alice: Been busy as a bee this mornin’, but now I’m fixin’ to relax. You had somethin’ to eat yet?
Ben: Not yet. Was thinkin’ ‘bout grabbin’ a bite. Got any ideas?
Alice: Heard there’s a new
Italian place right down the way. Folks say it’s top-notch.
Ben: Well, shoot! Let’s saddle up and check it out.
Alice: G’day, Ben! How ya goin’?
Ben: Not bad, thanks. Just wrapped up a project at work, so I’m feelin’ stoked. How about you?
Alice: Been runnin’ round all arvo, but I’m chillin’ now. You had a feed yet?
Ben: Nah, not yet. Thinkin’ I’ll grab somethin’. Got any suggestions?
Alice: Yeah, there’s this
new Italian joint down the road. Meant to be ace.
Ben: Sweet as! Let’s give it a go.
Alice: Alright, Ben! How’s it goin’?
Ben: Tidy, thanks! Just finished somethin’ big at work. Feel pretty chuffed. How about you?
Alice: Runnin’ round all mornin’, but takin’ it easy now. You had your grub yet?
Ben: Not yet, mind. Was thinkin’ of gettin’ somethin’. Any ideas?
Alice: There’s a new Italian
place down the way. Heard it’s lush.
