На уровне Academic во втором письменном задании от вас требуется написать сочинение в ответ на определенную точку зрения, спорное заявление или проблему. Вам предстоит выразить по этому поводу собственные мысли, поддержать их примерами и объяснить, почему вы так считаете. Типов сочинений в IELTS Writing Task 2 можно выделить аж 5 штук, и каждый имеет свой особый формат. Давайте сравним.

 

1. Сочинение-мнение - Opinion Essay (согласны или нет)

 

Вам даётся какое-либо утверждение, а вы должны по его поводу высказать своё мнение. Вы можете согласиться или не согласиться, но в любом случае должны объяснить причины своего решения.

 

Пример вопроса:

 

Some people believe that university education should be free for all students, regardless of their financial background. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

 

Пример ответа (считайте, что это первый абзац вашего будущего сочинения):

 

In this essay, I will argue that university education should be free for all students because it promotes equal opportunities and can lead to a more educated and productive society. However, I also believe that government funding limitations make it challenging to offer free education universally.

 

2. Сочинение-обсуждение - Discussion Essay (вы обсуждаете обе точки зрения)

 

В сочинении вы обсуждаете обе точки зрения и в какой-то момент высказываете собственно мнение.

 

Пример вопроса:

 

Some people think that the government should invest more money in public transportation, while others believe that more funding should be directed towards the construction of new roads.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

 

Пример ответа:

 

Some argue that improving public transportation should be the government’s top priority as it reduces traffic congestion and pollution. On the other hand, many believe that building new roads is essential to accommodate the growing number of vehicles. I believe that a balance between both approaches is necessary for effective urban planning.

 

3. Преимущества и недостатки – Advantages and Disadvantages Essay

 

В этом эссе вам предложат обсудить преимущества и недостатки той или иной ситуации или события. Иногда вас попросят высказать и собственное мнение. Всегда обращайте внимание на конкретное задание и не спешите со своим мнением, если оно, наоборот, не требуется.

 

Пример вопроса:

 

In many countries, tourism is a major source of income, but it can also cause problems in the local environment and culture. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of tourism in modern society. Do you think the benefits of tourism outweigh the drawbacks? (Видите do you think, значит, хотят услышать ваше мнение)

 

Пример ответа:

 

Tourism brings significant economic benefits, creating jobs and supporting local businesses. However, it can also lead to environmental degradation and cultural erosion. In my opinion, the benefits of tourism outweigh the disadvantages if managed sustainably, as it can provide vital revenue for developing countries.

 

4. Проблема и её решение – Problem and Solution Essay

 

В такого рода сочинениях вас обычно просят описать проблему и предложить её решение.

 

Пример вопроса:

 

In many cities, the increasing number of cars on the roads causes major problems, including air pollution and traffic congestion. What are the possible solutions to these problems?

 

Пример ответа:

 

The rise in car ownership has led to severe air pollution and traffic jams. One solution is to invest in public transportation systems to reduce reliance on cars. Additionally, promoting carpooling and cycling can help alleviate these issues and reduce environmental impact.

 

5. Двойной вопрос - Double Question (или Two-Part Question)

 

В этом типе сочинения вам предстоит ответить на два разных, но связанных между собой вопроса.

 

Пример вопроса:

 

More and more people are choosing to live alone. Why is this the case? Is it a positive or negative trend?

 

Пример ответа:

 

Many people choose to live alone because of increased financial independence and changing social values that prioritize individualism. While living alone can promote personal growth and autonomy, it may also lead to social isolation, making it a negative trend for some individuals.

 

Ключевая разница в требованиях:

 

Opinion Essay: выражаете согласие или несогласие с данным заявлением.

 

Discussion Essay: обсуждаете обе точки зрения и предлагаете взвешенный аргумент.

 

Advantages and Disadvantages Essay: рассматриваете плюсы и минусы ситуации, иногда, если просят, высказываете собственное мнение по поводу того, какие аргументы кажутся вам правильнее.

 

Problem-Solution Essay: концентрируетесь на выявлении проблемы и предлагаете возможное решение.

 

Double Question Essay: отвечаете на два разных вопроса и находите их общую причину и следствия или преимущества и недостатки.

 

 

Структура Writing Task 2:

 

Она едина для всех типов вопросов. Поэтому подходить к сочинению можно, следуя общему алгоритму:

 

Абзац 1 – вступление:

 

• Перефразируете вопрос.
• Пишите свой тезис, то бишь коротко описываете свою позицию или идею.

 

Абзацы 2-3 – суть:

 

• Каждый абзац описывает отдельную мысль.
• Приводите поддерживающие примеры и давайте объяснения.

 

Абзац 4 – заключение:

 

• Обобщаете свои основные мысли, изложенные в параграфах 2 и 3.
• Повторяете свою позицию и идею из вступления.

 

 

Пример структуры сочинения Opinion Essay:

 

Вопрос:

Some people believe that modern technology is making people more sociable, while others think it is making them less sociable. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

 

Вступление:

• Technology has greatly influenced the way people interact with each other.
• Some argue that it has made people more sociable, while others believe it has caused isolation.
• In this essay, I will discuss both viewpoints and argue that modern technology has indeed made people less sociable.

Абзац 1 (в поддержку общительности):

• Technology enables people to connect across great distances.
• Social media allows friends and family to stay in touch, even if they live far away.
• For example, platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp allow people to communicate instantly.

Абзац 2 (о причине изолированности):

• On the other hand, technology can create superficial relationships.
• Many people spend more time on their phones than interacting face-to-face.
• This leads to a decrease in real-life social skills, which affects deeper human connections.

Вывод:

• In conclusion, while technology has some positive effects on social interaction, its overuse is leading to isolation.
• I believe that people need to balance their use of technology to maintain meaningful relationships.
